Resist shortcuts
Effective communication in leadership requires a no-tolerance approach to things like information silos, sidebar promises, or personnel discussions without all members present.
Apart from mishearing verbal directives, no future staff or partners can learn from the source once the moment has passed.
Inconsistency actually models a preference in how leaders communicate. By not insisting on neuroinclusive protocols, the connotation is that inclusion is not really a priority.
Things you can do today:
1 Identify roles/staff to cross-train each other as part of the job description. If the novice can not complete the task as described, expert works to update materials until novice can.
2 Liaise with those in similar roles in other departments. Share/exchange training materials so counterpart can provide backup in emergency.
