Make it a joint effort

Be clear about department strategy, and solicit feedback from reports. Before stating your opinion of suggestions and new ideas, ask at least one clarifying question even if you think you completely understand what is being presented. If you and your report run out of ideas, enlist help from experts, community practitioners and creative visionaries.
